Hats for Hope--GIVEAWAY!!
I pretty much wear hats as long as I can...anything less than 85 degrees is still hat weather to me. A tank top, breezy skirt, flip flops, and a hat is pretty much my fav outfit to wear. And I LOVE products that help people so I 100% support my young friend, Arthur's, attempts to sell 400 Dece hats made by impoverished moms in Romania in the convenience of their own homes. Yay for "work at home moms"! His shop is called Sperantsa.
The hats are awesome, high-quality, and come in tons of styles and colors and I'm GIVING ONE AWAY!! Leave a comment below letting me know your favorite fair trade/non-profit type business. I'll randomly pick a winner on Monday and the winner can pick ANY HAT THEY'D LIKE!!
Here are a few pics from Sperantsa's website...
(awww, Arthur) ; )
Crazy cute, right?! So leave a comment, spread the word, and get yourself (and a friend!) a sweet hat!!
Arian : )
Well I just HAVE to give this a shot;
ReplyDeleteSo, what is my favorite Non-Profit//Fair trade organization? I would have to say Invisible Children. Of course. Invisible Children is an amazing non-profit organization working to end a 25 year long war against children 5-12. These children are taken from their homes by a religious "leader" named Joseph Kony and forced to commit horrible, gut wrenching tasks against each other, themselves, and their friends and family. Invisible Children hosts screenings, fundraisers, and events to go towards building FM radios to warn areas in Northern Uganda and the Sudan about potential invasion threats and are also building schools and rehabilitation centers for those affected by the war. IC ALSO tries to reunite child "soldiers" with their families and lets them know they can leave the LRA (Lords Resistance Army) peacefully and go home.
The love on these kids, and give them a voice; where as they normally wouldn't have one. <3

I love TOMS shoes! These hats are so cool too, every since you posted about them a while ago I've loved them!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I bought a gray heart speech bubble print from you recently and I love it! =)
I'm a fan of Light Give Heat. They have really neat jewelry made by/benefiting women in Africa.

My favorite non-profit is The Speckled Bird Cafe in Norwood,OH. I love that there are small businesses trying hard to stay open AND impacting the community I personally live in. I love that it offers a place for community, good coffee and an improvement to my neighborhood. I'm on the team working to get it re-opened. So exciting!
ReplyDeletecute hats! I really appreciate what TOMS is doing with One for One.
ReplyDeleteI am also a huge fan of TOMs! I love the goodwill work they do!
ReplyDeleteMmm. I like Toms, Ten Thousand Villages, Sseko!
ReplyDeleteCUTE HATS! One of my favorites is Just a Drop. JUST A DROP IS A WATER CHARITY THAT BUILDS WELLS PUMPS & BOREHOLES IN OVER 30 COUNTRIES.
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say either TOMS shoes or Noise Trade. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite non profity type business is the Bophelong Aids Hospice in Mamelodi, South Africa. In an impoverished community, they care for AIDS patients that have been abused or abandoned by their loved ones. They make the lame walk & the blind see...I know cuz I've seen it with my own two eyes. "Bophelong" means "life" & that's exactly what they give.
ReplyDeleteI have two-one is crochet kids-it's similar to this one but kids in impoverished countries make hats and sell them and my other is 140 million orphans. Both great causes! Kim(who Andrea used to live with ;)
ReplyDeleteI am a fan of TOMS shoes, like many others here...
ReplyDeleteI also love BGMC - Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge. I worked as a children's pastor for 8 years, and this is a program that we used that involved kids in giving. In the past it was known for just kids' Christian literature, but it has expanded to include caring for critical needs all over the world. It's a great opportunity to teach kids about what is going on beyond their front door and give them a chance to be a part of it as well!!
First of all, thanks for the sweet giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite non-profit organization is Energency, which provides medical help to war victims. They are active in Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, and many other places. It was founded by Gino Strada, which is - in my hopinion - a great man.
This is their website http://www.emergency.it/en-index.html
i'm a big fan of the girl effect. they are committed to changing the future for young girls who lack education and a future.

ReplyDeleteMy friend's business:
ReplyDeleteStop Traffick Fashion
www.stoptraffickfashion.com
where she sells items made by women who are survivors of trafficking.
Awesome giveaway! I'd never thought of myself as a hat person, but I've been trying to wear hats more often...and these are super cute! As for non-profit org, I have to say Mission to the World -- especially because I'm going to Japan through them later this month.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
