Concentrated Cuteness

We lived in Japan for a couple years right after college and let me tell you, they are the masters at squeezing a lot of cute into a little, little space--- cute little cars, parked on tiny beautifully paved driveways next to the smallest, most meticulously manicured lawns (we're talking lawns that are 4'x8' in the suburbs!). Everything is so small and so cute--it's rediculous.

Stumbling upon Japanese designer Shinzi Katoh's website has me wanting to go back to Japan, not to live, just to go shopping. It's hard to pick my favorites from his site so here are a few...

Onigiri (ball of rice--sometimes with something like fish in the middle, sometimes coated with seasonings, sometimes covered with a sheet of seaweed----sooo good) cases.

Can't write with just a plain old white and blue pen, nooo, must write with super crazy cute pens.

Scotch tape? What's that? Packages must be sealed with adorable cartoon laden packing tape.

Brown bag what?? No way! Lunches are packed in tiny segmented containers with cute English sayings on them that don't actually make sense. And don't forget the matching chopsticks.

Crazy cute notebook...

Uh-oh!! Reading a book w/o an insanely cute cover?! Quick, cover it with this insanely cute book cover!! Shew, close one.

Check out this shop for more. You can actually order stuff if you're interested. 100yen is roughly $1 and the shipping from Japan is a bit pricey, just fyi.

  1. Oh Arian! This brings back childhood memories. When I was 3 we moved to Japan and lived there for 3 years...I absolutely adored it and couldn't have asked for a more imaginative place to spend part of my childhood! if you ever go back, let us know, we might have to come with! Where did you live while there?

  2. That's awesome! We spent a few months outside Toyko but spent the majority of our time (2.5 years) in Nishinomiya which is between Osaka and Kobe.
