The Week

Whoa where did the week go?! Well here's our week according to Instagram

Mental health day. Objective: watch as many cartoons cuddled in bed as possible.

Attempts to start journaling again, helpful for when those pesky post-baby blues sneak up on me.

Family movie

A few more rows added to the family movie afghan.

A snowy sick day

A fair amount of crafting. Safety first, people : )

Craft supply shopping and plans to make toys for this chubby baby

Lots of spinach, avocado, sauerkraut salads for lunch.

Which were promptly cancelled out with these homemade donuts (recipe here)

A double date night with the lovely and talented Willis's

A couch sleepover

A happy daddy

And awesome hair ; )
Hope your week was great!

Lazy Sunday Morning

Growing up a preacher's kid there was no such thing as a lazy Sunday morning. I didn't mind. I liked church plus there were usually donuts involved. Then came the creation of the "late service" and Arian saw that it was good. So on the seventh day Arian rested AND went to church at 11:45.

So here's a lazy Sunday morning at Fort Armstrong...

Eli and I wake up. It's nice and sunny.

We find Hudson has been awake for at least an hour. Darn that internal alarm clock of his. He's just been reading quietly, already half way through the giant book he just got yesterday.

Mommy needs iced coffee.

Daniel is up and joins us for breakfast.

Overnight slow cooker oats as usual...with cinnamon, brown sugar and almond milk.

Jude is still dozing, probably warn out from celebrating his birthday with Nana and Pappy yesterday.

(bottom bunk, colored lights, 70s paneling, cute pajamas) : )

Daniel is lookin cute in plaid and I'm sporting my DIYed lacy skirt for the first time.

We're finally ready to head to church and enjoy a sunny day!

Happy Sunday!

Treasure Tote

I've been slowly building my stash of irresistibly cute, boy-friendly fabrics so that when the mood strikes or the need arises, we'll be ready. Like last night when Jude suddenly needed something to carry his treasures in. A large ziplock bag, after all, is no place for secret treasures.

The other advantage to super cute prints is that they look great when used in very fast simple projects. Fast and simple is all we can really handle at the moment : ) Like this easy tote bag!

Some matching felt and ribbon and there ya go!

Ready to get back to his search for buried treasure!

Happy Saturday!

Family Crafternoon

I spent the afternoon with my mom and sister--drinking iced coffee, eating chocolate chip cookies, sewing, and smiling at our babies.

Andrea brought over a pile of Granny's old blouses to alter and her vintage dress form.

And I pulled out the lacy fabric I bought a while ago in hopes of making a cute date night skirt.

And when we weren't changing, feeding, or burping the babies, we cut and sewed and made pretty things to wear.

It was the first of hopefully many mother/daughter + babies crafternoons.

Oh the cuteness.

Hopefully I will have a finished skirt to show you soon. Turns out "winging it" is not the most efficient way to make a skirt : ). Thank goodness for seam rippers.

Happy Birthday, Jude!

Jude's birthdays are bittersweet for me. He's just so good at being a child. Nothing makes him happier than cupcakes, cuddling, and cartoons. As opposed to Hudson who has always kinda been an adult trapped in a child's body, preferring hot tea, classical music, and a few quiet moments to work on his newest novel.

And Jude still hasn't mastered his r's and l's. It's adorable. It'll be a sad day when he no longer calls his little brother "E-why" or tells me he "woves" me.

Happy birthday, my sweet Jude. You make me smile : ) I wove you too.

(By the way, Jude's shirt is from this shop and I made his crown with felt. Maybe a new birthday tradition?)
