New Low Prices!

Hey!! Hope you're excited about the weekend you have lined up. I'm hoping to spend a lot of time relaxing and enjoying the cooler temperatures! I need to catch up on my sleep (and laundry)!

Just wanted to let you know that I cut the prices in my shop waaaay back. I really want my art to be available to anyone who wants it so I'm going to try these new lower prices out for awhile and see if I can swing it! Take advantage of them while you can!

I spent the day thrifting and Ikea shopping with my sister for furnishings for an interior design project she's working on. I show you pics soon! Til then I'll leave you with one of my favorite color combos from around my house-- yellow and brown!

Happy Friday!

Welcome To My Dresser

My necklaces finally got a new home (other than just a tangled pile on my night stand). They now proudly reside on my dresser, which is old and belonged to someone in my family I believe...as well as my antique mirror, which is very old and weighs about the same as a small elephant.

Their new neighbors-- the sweet little thrifted green bowl and saucer, vintage handkerchief, and the pine cones that fell prey to one of my glitter frenzies last Christmas,

as well as my grandma's old Jergen's bottle. The smell of Jergen's lotion will forever remind me of Granny. Makes me wonder what smell will remind my grandchildren of me (hopefully it's a good one) ; )

The only thing missing from this little corner of our bedroom, I think, is a little bit more color. Looking a tad drab : ) Maybe a little DIY garland? Like one of these...

Gotta love the granny squares!

Ooooor, some of Anthropologie's amazing hardware. Any set of these would do the trick...

So pretty.

This post has me really wanting to buckle down and finally finish organizing and decorating our bedroom. : )

Btw, I'd love to see what you guys have done in decorating your own bedrooms---or bedrooms you've seen online that are really inspiring. Post links in the comment section and I will be sure to check them out!

Have a good one!

Vintage Striped Dress

The little Armstrong boys and I made a brief trip to my grandpa's house yesterday to say hello and spend a little bit of quality Labor Day time with more family. Since Granny passed away and the sorting of her belongings began, I rarely return home from a trip to their house empty-handed. There are always boxes to sift through and vintage treasures to be discovered. Last night I came home with this dress.

It's comfy and sweet and still smells like their house (that's a good thing).

Working on a new print today based on a line from a Sky Sailing song that runs through my head a lot these days...just haven't been able to get a good visual representation of it on paper yet. It'll probably be a free download when I'm done, though, so be sure to check back. And I'll give away a signed one too.

Chocolate-covered strawberries....Hudson's contribution to last night's potluck. So good.

Well, time to pick Hudson up from school so I'm off to test this dress's bike-riding capabilities : )

Labor Day

So all weekend I've been calling "LABOR Day" weekend "Memorial Day" weekend ...about 25 times on facebook, flickr, the blog...so silly. So happy LABOR Day to those of you in the U.S. and happy Monday to the rest. : )

Yesterday it felt like the entire city of Cincinnati was a playground and EVERYONE came out to play...crowds and crowds of happy people all day long...live music, good food, parties, friends, family lining both sides of the river as far as you could see. We logged about 10 miles on our stroller it seems. It was awesome.
We watched my sister and brother-in-law play a show in the park in the morning, hung out downtown and took turns holding the babies in the family all day,
and finished off the night with the grand fireworks display.

Perfect.

Our out-of-town family members are heading back and we're all figuring out when we can see each other again...Christmas? seems too far away....Thanksgiving? that's not til November....How 'bout Halloween?....sigh. I guess we can wait til then. : )

Family Saturday

In my late teens I became a member of a blended family that has learned (and still learns) to blend quite beautifully. I love them. Dad, step-mom, 7 of us kids plus our 7 significant others, and 6 grandkids now scattered over all over the U.S.
A lot of them are in town for all the Labor Day weekend festivities and it is awesome.
More than I love hanging out in the city, I love introducing people to my favorite city hang outs.
Like Findlay Market.
This is baby Nan. She lives on the west coast. 6 months old and it's my first chance meeting her....too long!
A beautiful day ended with a beautiful night, catching up around the campfire with wine and s'mores (an excellent, sophisticated combo...next time you're picking up a bottle of wine, ask the wine shop employee what pairs well with s'mores).

S'mores with Reece's peanut butter cups instead of the chocolate. Try it.

Today promises to be just as wonderful. My sister and brother-in-law playing an outdoor concert in the park, everyone in Cincinnati out on the river enjoying the day, GRAND fireworks to cap it all off. I'll be sure to have more pics : )

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

Success!

Friday afternoons are our weekly date time (a perk of having a husband who works from home). And today we found THREE new places to love in Cincinnati! THREE! Got a haircut at the newly-opened High Five Salon. It's such a creative, artsy space and the people who opened it and work there are first class. So if you're a local, you should totally check it out. It's worth it.

Lunch at the BonBonerie...amazing. I need to go back for their afternoon tea sometime.

Then finally Atomic 10, a vintage thrift store downtown I've been meaning to check out. Such a pretty rainbow of vintage dresses....so dreamy : )

I walked away with a cute "new" dress (show ya later) and Daniel got a shirt and tie. A pretty successful date, I'd say!

New haircut : )

Hope you guys have a great weekend! It's a three-day one for us here in the U.S.! Lots of family coming in town, BIG fireworks on the river, beautiful forecast....good times, good times.

Party Balloons

I'm working on a set of customizable invitations that will soon be available in the shop. If you have any suggestions for themes or sizes let me know!

We're still getting settled in to our new routine now that Hudson is in kindergarden. I actually don't mind the early mornings as much as I thought I would. Biking to and from school with Hudson is quickly becoming this sweet little daily bonding time for the two of us. And I think Jude is enjoying the little bit of extra attention he's getting now that he's got both parents to himself for part of the day. Sweet, little, Jude....getting bigger every day!

Have a good night ; )
