Building an Army

We're bustin outta here this weekend and heading to Daniel's hometown for some creative projects. There's gonna be a little recording, a little sketching, a little crafting, a little baking... Hopefully I'll have good photos of it all on Monday.


The best of both worlds--playing in the snow while still getting to wear giant fuzzy slippers.


I think this little bud feels the same way I do--appreciating the beauty of the ice and snow but looking forward to greener days.

Until the snow came we thought the birds were unaware of our little feeder. But apparently word has spread quickly.

Snow.

We, like many in this part of the country, are snowed in today. You know what they say--when life gives you snow, make snow cream! There are quite a few different recipes floating out there on the interweb. For ours, we mixed half and half, sugar, and vanilla in a jar then poured it over a giant bowl of fresh snow, stirring til we got the right consistency. A little blueberry sauce on top--good stuff.

I hope you're nice and warm where you are. And I hope they lift the driving ban before dinner or we're having kidney beans and wheat germ for supper.

I Wood Suggest

Yesterday my sister, the boys, and I hit up some thrift stores and a building supply re-use warehouse in search of my next canvas. I'm hoping to put something together to submit to this show at the Red Tree Gallery. So stay tuned for the finished product sometime in the next week or so (hopefully).

Outside!!

Ever since that weekend in December when we loaded our moving pods and tried to drive/fly to Ohio amidst a crazy New England blizzard...when icy roads forced us to stay in a hotel just miles from home... I've been ready for spring. Our borrowed home has a great yard and woods that have just been too cold to explore. So with today's surprisingly warm temperatures, we kicked off our shoes for a quick reminder of how great it feels to be barefoot in the grass (albeit the cool, wet grass--but grass nonetheless). Though snow will probably be in the forecast sometime soon, we enjoyed this taste of spring while we could.

Home Sweet Home

I've been sketching a lot of houses recently. I guess I have "home" on my mind a lot these days -- happy to be back home in Cincinnati, missing the home we left behind in Massachusetts, grateful for our current borrowed home, looking forward to having a place that's our own...
I don't usually hang up my own art, but maybe I'll hang this one in a little frame in my studio...a reminder to keep thinking about what "home" really means.

Office Romance

Now that Daniel works from home too, it's kinda like having an office romance--an office romance in which I still get to wear pajamas all day : )
