What A Guy

I'm feasting on soup today in light of my recent wisdom teeth extraction---trying to ice my cheek with one hand, pack for moving with the other hand, print the last few orders from my shop with the other hand, take care of Jude with another hand...too bad I'm not one of those multi-limbed Hindu goddesses, that'd make this whole process go a lot faster.

Daniel brought home this cute little red and white arrangement because quote: "you deserve flowers". What a guy : ) I think I shall take him with me.

Bittersweet

We hosted the "Give-Away Soiree" this weekend, giving away a good chunk of our stuff to friends as we prepare to move to Cincinnati in 6 days. (!!!) (we've still got some stuff left--like a microwave, an end table, a floor lamp, a lobster pot, and a VHS copy of "Cool Runnings" with Japanese subtitles...I know, I'm shocked that wasn't snagged right away too! -- so if you're local and are interested speak up)

Don't worry, Jude, you're marked with one of our special "this item is not available" stickers.

Then there was our going-away party, more packing, Christmas shopping on Etsy, meals with friends, and more packing.
Tomorrow is your last day to order from my shop if you'd like to take advantage of the "Buy One Get One" sale. After that I'm closin up shop til after the first of the year.

I'm also getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow (woohoo!) so posts might be sparse over the next week or so with all the packing, teeth pulling, moving, Christmas madness!

NA na na na na na na na NA na na na na na na na BATMAN!

We had Hudson's party this past weekend-- a blur of cake, presents, a Christmas parade, face painting, sword fights, cookie decorating, and broken crayon bits. This was my first attempt at making a layer cake. For the top, I just printed the batman logo out on some printer paper, cut it out with a craft knife, and gently but completely laid it on the icing as a stencil as I poured on the sprinkles.

We tried our hand at recycled chunky crayons....although I got distracted with all the cake cutting and serving that I left the crayons in the oven for too long. They melted all together and came out the same purplish brownish color. Oh well.

Happy 4th, Hudson : )

What. The Heck. Is That.

Yesterday was full of Boston Bazaar Bizarre MADNESS. Thousands upon thousands of people for 8 hours. I sold out of 1/2 my prints 2 hours into it (mostly because I ran out of ink the night before and only had about 1/2 of what I would have liked to bring).

SPEAKING OF BIZARRE, I'm kickin myself for not getting video of yesterday's live entertainment -- Jonny Spaceman. Picture this, I'm sellin stuff, all is well...THEN... this unearthly...whiney...haunting..slightly off-key rendition of Hark the Herald starts bouncing off the walls so loudly that I can hardly hear the customers. "WHAT THE?! " I look up and postioned high on a balcony overlooking the arena like a grand emcee is a man dressed in all silver playing a.... wait...what IS that thing?! Is he just waving his hands in the air?! Why is he gesturing like that?! How is he making that sound?!

A little internet research last night opened up a whole new world of musical geekery I was unaware of. Step aside tuba players and barbershop quartets, the THERAMIN is the new music geek in town. I found Jonny Spaceman himself on YouTube. Imagine hours of this....

So this weekend is going to be CHOCK-FULL of prepping, packing, partying CRAZINESS! We're moving in TWO WEEKS! SOOOO MUCH to do!!

21 Days til departure!! We're moving from the Boston area to the Cincinnati area so I'm having a BIG MOVING/HOLIDAY B.O.G.O. (Buy One Get One) SALE in my shop to 1. raise money for the move (apparently moving trucks DO NOT grow on trees... who knew!) 2. get rid of all my inventory and supplies and 3. offer YOU some great deals for those art-lovers on your gift list.

"Why in the world would you move 1/2 way across the country with 2 little kids 4 days before Christmas?" I'm glad you asked. -- My husband and his brother are going to be starting a company called Stringthink. Though he can explain it better than me, it's basically a narrative design firm.

"A what??"

A narrative design firm. They are an author & illustrator/designer duo with incredible creativity and a passion for story-telling. So they'll be doing everything from creating graphic novels to screenplays to childrens' books, novels, and so on.

Hence the B.O.G.O. Sale. So grab a cup o' tea, pop in that Boys II Men Christmas tape, and hop on over to the shop : )
