Flower Girl

The yellow and gray scheme seems to be popping up more and more. Here's my take--the "Flower Girl" print now available in the shop!

Swap Shed Finds-The Pinnacle of Design

Occasionally we swing by our neighborhood swapshed, the part of the town dump where you can pick up or drop off decent used household items--toys, furniture, dishes, books, etc. Here are my two favorite recent finds:

One, this vintage sewing machine. Haven't really tested it out yet but at least it LOOKS pretty. AND it matches this old tool box I use for sewing supplies. (You can see the bird I'm working on from this project.)

And TWO, when Daniel interned at Little Tikes, he designed this line of Goofy Giggles toys. To his surprise, he found this mini version buried in a swap shed toy pile and turned it over to see the Burger King logo stamped on the back-- a kids' meal toy!! Daniel designed a Burger King kids' meal toy and found out about it at the dump! Hilarious. A proud/sad moment indeed : )

The Shore

Just bought the new Seabird album last night and popped it in ye olde ipod for a late night seaside run (very good music=very good run). The "Til We See The Shore" song spoke to me and this is the print that resulted. In case you can't read it, the lyrics are "Sing til your heart hurts and then sing some more. Don't stop singing til we see the shore." Good good stuff.

Custom Name print

It's 1 a.m., Jude is asleep in my now numb left arm (typing one handed--oooh yeeah), and I got out of bed just to work out this idea I had for a customizable print to add to the shop. Hopefully my sleeplessness will not be in vain.

Send me the photo and the name, choose a color (one of mine or your own), and within a week I'll send you a custom graphic print of your child or a friend's.

If your not interested, maybe just send me $1.50 so I can get a coffee in the morning : )

Blue Fairy print

Have a spot in your home for this little fairy? She's available right here in the shop!

From Seabird to King Bird

Hey, I finished this painting this weekend--my first step toward doing some more "real" work that could potentially be hung somewhere or sold as an original (most of my stuff is a combo of real and digital). You can order a print version in my shop if you're so inclined. This is all part of my greater plan to make art more than just a hobby that pays for itself, but actually a means of contributing to my family's income a little.

Money is a funny thing. It's something I've been thinking of a lot recently since we signed up for Mint.com (an online money managing program) Having all your earnings and spendings laid out in neat little pie charts is pretty eye-opening. Who knew I was spending a third of our income on Precious Moments figurines and decorative soaps--shocker. : ) ; ) jk

Pimpin' My Family--Part II

Did I mention that one of my other brother-in-laws is a kick-a@& drummer? (Sorry for the implied cursing, dad, but "kick bottom" just doesn't have that same ring to it.)

Tye is currently touring with Seabird out west. Check out their schedule and go see if a show if they're in your area! You can watch him rockin out here!
