Anthro Love

Here's a little Anthropologie eye candy for you from the brief trip I made there with my sister.
I'm always inspired by, not only what they sell, buy how they display it.
And how they use cheap, common materials to do amazing things...like these tied strips of colored fabric above the headboard...
...assorted light bulbs in these vintage-y glass display cases...

...and paperback books creating cool designs in this sweet wardrobe.

And how cute are these crocheted paper clips?! Nothing helps a girl get organized better than beautiful office supplies : )
A fussy 2-year-old with a sudden ear ache cut our shopping trip short but any amount of time spent in Anthropologie is time well spent : )

Where are some of your favorite places to find inspiration?

Just For Fun

So this ended up being a really busy week for our family, not much time for meditating or play like I had hoped. But we sneaked in little moments of play here and there...

like loud sing-a-longs with all the windows rolled down

and a trip to our favorite art store
I've got some "just for fun" paintings brewing in my sketchbook...ones that aren't particularly deep or meaningful...just fun.
(the dress I got on our thrifting date a couple weeks ago)
And we've got lots of fun plans for the weekend...plans that involve fresh apple butter, a parade, carnival rides, a mini road trip and TWO parties....dang.

And here's a seemingly pantless gnome...you know, just for fun. You're welcome.

Happy Friday!

Salvaged

We don't quite have enough storage in our apartment so this corner of the kitchen had become home to a random assortment of homeless...stuff. Daniel's gardening tools, a giant bag of potting soil, bike accessories, some tools, a giant box of my paintings I need to put up for sale soon...

Don't worry, all that stuff is still there, just cleverly hidden under the hand-me-down table and retro shower curtain turned table cloth that I salvaged from the giveaway pile in my grandparents garage a couple weeks ago.

Now all you see is the sweet milk glass pitcher with matching cream and sugar cups (also from Granny) and the metal shelf I found on the side of the road that now houses produce and bread and such. Much better.

(Good morning, Jude)

Also salvaged -- a set of vintage green glass tea cups and saucers. Perfect for a little banana bread and milk.

And THIS is where I got them---crazy, right?! It's the basement kitchen of an old church in Over The Rhine that hasn't been used in years. They must have left it right in the middle of a church potluck. Probably got in a argument over who would wash and who would dry and then abandoned their faith altogether. Who knows. : )

My friend let me in before they tore the building down and I grabbed the green glass tea set and a bunch of these glasses. Nothing some bleach and a sanitizing boiling water bath can't save : )

Thanks, by the way, for your encouraging comments on the last post. I hope you were encouraged too!

Time for a coffee shop date with Hudson : )

Gettin' It Done

Yesterday it felt like Andrea and I were on one of those crazy design shows where they have a limited amount of time and money to make over a space so they rush around all over town picking out furnishings and stay up well into the night assembling furniture, painting, hanging light fixtures... Probably because we had a limited amount of time and money to make over a space so we were rushing around all over town picking out furnishings and stayed up well into the night assembling furniture, painting, and hanging light fixtures. Yeah, that's probably why.

I call this the "Gettin' It Done" series...

Andrea gettin' it done at Ikea.

Andrea gettin' done at Salvation Army Thrift Store

and Andrea gettin' it done at Ohio Valley Antique Mall. That place is a wonderland of vintage goodness....

Wow.
Love it. It'd be such a sweet little eat-in-kitchen table.

I've got my eye on that little wooden table with the green top to replace my current desk/computer table. It'd match the green in the fireplace right next to it.

Some of the day's purchases-- wire baskets, an old radio, vintage suitcases, an old globe, pretty green and orange glasses...
..and these chairs and stools.

Andrea is working on redecorating a friend's office space downtown that's in a refurbished warehouse...super tall ceilings, giant windows, exposed brick. I'll show you pics in a few days when it's all done.

Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

New Low Prices!

Hey!! Hope you're excited about the weekend you have lined up. I'm hoping to spend a lot of time relaxing and enjoying the cooler temperatures! I need to catch up on my sleep (and laundry)!

Just wanted to let you know that I cut the prices in my shop waaaay back. I really want my art to be available to anyone who wants it so I'm going to try these new lower prices out for awhile and see if I can swing it! Take advantage of them while you can!

I spent the day thrifting and Ikea shopping with my sister for furnishings for an interior design project she's working on. I show you pics soon! Til then I'll leave you with one of my favorite color combos from around my house-- yellow and brown!

Happy Friday!

Welcome To My Dresser

My necklaces finally got a new home (other than just a tangled pile on my night stand). They now proudly reside on my dresser, which is old and belonged to someone in my family I believe...as well as my antique mirror, which is very old and weighs about the same as a small elephant.

Their new neighbors-- the sweet little thrifted green bowl and saucer, vintage handkerchief, and the pine cones that fell prey to one of my glitter frenzies last Christmas,

as well as my grandma's old Jergen's bottle. The smell of Jergen's lotion will forever remind me of Granny. Makes me wonder what smell will remind my grandchildren of me (hopefully it's a good one) ; )

The only thing missing from this little corner of our bedroom, I think, is a little bit more color. Looking a tad drab : ) Maybe a little DIY garland? Like one of these...

Gotta love the granny squares!

Ooooor, some of Anthropologie's amazing hardware. Any set of these would do the trick...

So pretty.

This post has me really wanting to buckle down and finally finish organizing and decorating our bedroom. : )

Btw, I'd love to see what you guys have done in decorating your own bedrooms---or bedrooms you've seen online that are really inspiring. Post links in the comment section and I will be sure to check them out!

Have a good one!
